We provide quality and rewarding activities in a fun, yet safe environment. We also realize that participating in a sport can really be appreciated if an individual is knowledgeable about all aspects of the activity. Thus, we offer instructional courses emphasizing the fundamentals of safety, technique, and environmental awareness. We are committed to ensuring that our activities are abundant with excitement and challenges that will leave its participants with a sense of accomplishment and pride. |
Why I started Goombay...
When I returned home from college in 1989 I realized that there were other things to do besides going to clubs and playing basketball on the weekends. I came up with the idea to plan a white water rafting trip in 1990 with a group of my friends (formally known as the BA Crew). Unfortunately no one had gone before and everyone considered it a white sport. Well it took two months to convince everyone to go and when I did, we had a great time!
Since then I have been putting together outdoor adventure trips and team sports for African-American in order for us to network with people that share the same outdoor interest, challenge ourselves physically as well as mentally, and have fun participating in activates that we enjoy. This program works and it allows people to get involved with something without having to know a lot of people.
